Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, has given Gonzo until Thursday to clarify contradictions in his testimony or risk a perjury investigation. Remember how well Karl Rove did with his “do over” for Patrick Fitzgerald.
Through it all, Bush is standing by his man.
THE WAR IN IRAQ:
Iraq’s PM Nouri al-Maliki and the top US Gen. In Iraq David Petraeus need a time out. Their relationship is so bad al-Maliki has asked Bush to remove Petraeus. Bush has no intention of withdrawing anyone from Iraq, generals included.
Is there a version of withdrawal the GOP can support?
Congress is opposing the Bush administration’s plan to sell $20 billion dollars worth of arms to the Saudis and other Persian Gulf countries.
While Bush is gift-wrapping the weapons for the Saudis, the US ambassador to the UN is accusing the Saudi Arabia of undermining the efforts to stop the violence in Iraq.
At least there is some good coming out of Iraq. The Iraq National Soccer team won the Asian Cup over the weekend.
Not so fast. During the celebration 4 people were killed from falling bullets!
