From Mike Malloy's site

Terror terror everywhere and no duct tape in sight!

Loose nukes! Al Qaeda in Germany and (gasp) Denmark! And it's almost 9-11! 9-11! 9-11! We must always be terrified by 9-11! 9-11! 9-11!

But it seems that the biggest terrorist threat we face today comes from the executive branch itself.

With today's terror-filled newscasts, Dick Cheney's former legal counsel and current chief of staff, David Addington, must be drooling in anticipation of mushroom clouds over Detroit and mass radiation poisoning in Phoenix. According to a new book, "The Terror Presidency,” when cautioned by the author – then a Justice Department lawyer - about the legality of the NSA eavesdropping program and that such action was a potential violation of the FISA court, Addington tried to silence him with visions of another 9-11: “We’re one bomb away from getting rid of that obnoxious [FISA] court," he sneered.

Salon.com put it this way: "During his tenure, Goldsmith discovered numerous legal positions which the administration had adopted that he found baseless and even unconscionable -- from torture to detention powers to illegal surveillance -- and he repudiated many of them, thereby repeatedly infuriating the most powerful White House officials, led by Cheney top aide David Addington. Addington views the Next Terrorist Attack as the golden opportunity to seize yet more power. Sitting around the White House dreaming of all the great new powers they will have once the new terrorist attack occurs -- as Addington was doing -- is nothing short of deranged."

In a separate incident when Goldsmith questioned administration authority to violate the 4th amendment, Addington again angrily accused him of complicity in a terrorist plot: “If you rule that way, the blood of the hundred thousand people who die in the next attack will be on your hands.”

Wow! So Cheney found himself a senior advisor with as voracious an appetite for death and destruction as he has. Lynne must be so jealous . . . .

So, we flip on the TV today to discover an alleged massive al Qeada terror plot in Germany, and loose nuclear weapons flying over middle America. With 9-11! 9-11! 9-11! just a few days away - as well as the Petraeus report on Iraq - could this all be mere coincidence? Or is it gleeful anticipation?

We'll discuss the latest Bush Crime Family fear mongering tonight.
